The weekend of March 7th & 8th proved to be a very busy one for our SFA school community. On March 7th, our school entered the Archdiocese Junior High Academic Decathlon for the 2nd time, only. This competition is held at the LA Sports Arena and houses 115 teams with 10 students on each team that compete in categories such as logic, math, science, fine arts, grammar, history, current events, religion, and literature. Our team prepares for the entire year, while all of the members also devote their time to additional clubs such as sports, student council, choir, and more. These students worked hard and dedicated all their time to be part of a rigorous event. We are extremely proud of our decathlon team, especially the major improvement they have shown since our first time.
On March 8th, our school drill team entered a CYO competition – after taking a brief break for a few years. They entered the Mighty Mites category and were the smallest team with only 4 members against teams of 20 or more. Despite their size, they placed FIRST in their category! We are extremely proud of them and the trophy they brought home.
Our students do an amazing job working hard and dedicating their time to SFA, in all aspects. We can’t wait to see the sustained progress SFA will continue to experience in the future.
