On Monday, March 10th the entire Junior High went to Cedar-Sinai Hospital to attend the Brainworks Program. This is a program that was created to give hands-on experience and personal interaction with role models in the healthcare professional, in order to cultivate an interest in medicine and brain science, and encourage young people to pursue medical careers. Created by Dr. Keith Black, who chairs Cedars-Sinai’s Department of Neurosurgery and directs the Maxine Dunitz Neurosurgical Institute, it is a day-long event that reaches out to underrepresented youth. SFA would like to thank Ms. DeGuzman and Cedar-Sinai for allowing our school to be part of this educationally inspiring opportunity.
Here is an article that has an interview with one of our very own 7th graders !
