Welcome to St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Elementary School!
St. Francis of Assisi (SFA) is a Catholic elementary school located in the heart of Silver Lake with grades ranging from Transitional Kindergarten (4 years old) through Eighth Grade. Our families come from diverse backgrounds and are from various neighborhoods including Echo Park, Hollywood, Koreatown, Los Feliz, and Glendale. We are a Catholic elementary school committed to the intellectual and spiritual development of students through creative and rigorous instructional methods. Students work in small multiage groups to insure that all students receive the appropriate instruction to promote high achievement. We provide our students with an extended academic calendar, a curriculum designed on the Common Core & State Standards and a rich liturgical life that fosters their faith journey. St. Francis of Assisi School is accredited by WCEA and by the Western Association of Schools and Colleges (WASC). As testament to the hard of work of our staff and families, SFA received a full reaccreditation term of 6 years from WASC and WCEA in the spring of 2018.
Teachers are dedicated to working with parents and students collaboratively to best meet the needs of all students within our Multiage STEM learning model. SFA’s faculty and staff are dedicated to nurturing the development, curiosity, confidence and self-esteem of all students in order to fully challenge and inspire them to succeed.
St. Francis of Assisi Catholic School provides an academically rich environment that creatively uses technology in the classroom while wholly integrating Catholic values. We are committed to create an engaging learning environment that seeks excellence in individualized instruction. We, at St. Francis of Assisi Catholic School, are devoted to working side by side with parents and students in order to create a positive learning community catering to the needs of all learners within our STEM model of learning. Our vision and end-goal is to equip students with the tools to innovate and act compassionately to meet the challenges of an ever-changing world.
On March 26, the Archdiocese of Los Angeles announced that the 2020-2021 school year will be SFA’s last one. After more than 80 years of serving students in the Silver Lake neighborhood of Los Angeles, SFA will close its doors at the end of June 2021. We are currently assisting our current families in finding a new home at our nearby Catholic schools. We are eternally grateful for your support and for your prayers.
Have a Blessed Day,
Mr. Claro Nunez, M.A.
